Eatin’ Garage
I watched two boys cannonball into a pit of trash
And learned to grieve with God
“Why are you training my eyes?” I asked
He responded.
Uncarefully ambitious
Their fists clenched around ignorance and rotten meat
For ‘food eaten in secret is delicious’1
I disapprove.
A wall between the children and torment I prayed to be
Fortified with love, discipline supplemented
Repentance will ultimately set them free
Intercession.
‘Who can straighten what He has bent?’2
So foolish desire became unsatisfying
“Lord don’t return my energy spent”
I crave sanctification…
Weary and burdened3, Jesus gave me rest
Unforced symphony of grace I now abide
Fearfully and wonderfully4 blessed
Emerged from the garbage!
